Art Contest Entries: You Be The Judge! 2013
Hi Ya'll
Well, I've decided I'm entering in my first ever online contest.
I found it on the great blog Painting Stuff to Look Like Stuff by the talented pair Kate Stone and David Gluck, who have also submitted work. The contest is run by Brian Neher, a professional portrait painter from North Virginia who's been doing these contests since last year, and has managed to get quite a lot of well known sponsors on board. These include Plein Air Magazine, Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine, Blick Art Materials, The Artist's Magazine, Yale University Press and Jerry's Artarama Super Store amongst many others. He is offering up to $10,000 in supplies and prizes and the contest is FREE to enter, which is a rarity these days. If you have any works you'd like to submit, he's accepting anything in 2d traditional media made in the last 3 years that doesn't contain nudity.
Give it a go! What do you have to lose, really....
Here are my submissions, which are my two favorite portraits from last year.
"Kalikia", graphite on paper, 16x22", 2012 and
"Pink GIrl" Oil on Board, 9.5x12", 2012.
You can vote by going to the voting page. I hope to be selected for the next round.
Wish me luck!
